#011 Wait a Minute Mr. Postman, Don’t Unsubscribe Me

Email marketing is still alive and well in 2019. According to a recent Hubspot survey, more than 50 percent of U.S. respondents check their personal email account more than 10 times a day, and it is by far their preferred way to receive updates from brands.  And there are currently close to 5.6 billion active email addresses in the world.  Email marketing continues to be one of the easiest ways to increase your customer’s lifetime value.

In this episode we tackle some good tactics for content in your email, segmenting your lists, and growing your lists.

If you are looking for a good email marketing platform we recommend Mailchimp.

Below are some examples of great email designs and content we reference in this episode:

Every good email starts with a great subject line.  The WhiP by WPMU DEV consistently has great subject lines that you love to see in your inbox and prompt curiosity about what’s in the email.  In fact, their cool wordsmithing was our inspiration to have a musical connection to all our titles.

And the content never disappoints.  They are chock full of expertise on all things web design and WordPress.

Another type of email that is consistently welcomed in a customer’s inbox is one that is the bearer of good news like a discount or the announcement of a new feature in one of their products you use.  Proposify is a classic example of a ‘new feature’ announcement that helps build up their brand in their customers’ eyes.
